Corvette-3 is a new generation LWD system with measuring probes placed in the wall of the load-bearing housing to increase measurement accuracy. The system has reduced length, enabling assembly and testing of the system, as a part of the BHA, in a maintenance shop.
The system is electrically powered by an alternator, which makes it possible to increase both trip duration and operational characteristics. The development of Corvette-3 aimed to the versatility of the system. Technical requirements include the capability of operating the equipment at high pressures and temperatures.
Corvette-3 offers formation evaluation in terms of reservoir properties. For this purpose, base configurations include probes for measuring the density and porosity of rocks, their natural gamma-ray intensity, and electrical resistivity. The base also has a bed boundary detection probes to provide the best steering direction in various types of reservoirs.
Corvette-3 system includes a modulator, a high-speed transmitter with a data transfer rate of 4 bps via the mud-pulse telemetry. Such a speed of information transmission enables sending image logs to the surface without compromising the rate of drilling bit penetration and the quality of real-time logging measurements.
